Past Pupils
Anthony Bailey (1983)
I left The Somerset School in 1983 after one year in the sixth form. I went on to work in a print shop and learnt how to operate offset litho printing equipment. While at the same company I moved to the art department and trained in paste-up and later when the company moved into the computer age trained on Apple Mac and PC’s. I am still with the same company.
My
younger brother Ian also went to Somerset and strangely
is working at the same company as I do, I think
he is following me around, or am I being paranoid?
My hobbies and interests include science fiction, model rocketry, movie making, watching movies, classic cars and cycling.
One of my memories of being at school is playing cards, Blackjack probably, on the stage of the new hall behind the curtains while a class was having PE or something like that, we had to be really quiet! I don’t remember when it was; I think Mark Nagle and David Kelly were also there so we were most likely bunking off! Don’t tell my mom.
I guess most of us remember PE at the lower school and having to do cross country around the Big Rec in the cold, rain and snow and having to try to do your buttons up with numb unfeeling fingers, those were the days, they don’t seem so bad now!
In 1979 I played in the winning team in a
six-a-side football
competition and received this Certificate of Merit.
It's hard to believe now though, as it is all a
blur! The other members of the team must have made up
for me I guess.
