Past Pupils
Derek Heath (1948)
I'm a TGS "old boy". I'm now 80 and my recollections of life and activities at the school are getting too hazy to be much use to anyone.
Not even sure of my dates at the school - I must have started there about '41 and left about '47.
Both years could easily be plus or minus a year.
I do remember masters Dr Llewellyn, Dr Long, Mr. Schlarts (? spelling), Nelson (music) and Jerry Hawtin (gym, famed for his use of a slipper)
And two boys Nash and Ian Johnson (Ian lived near me in Enfield, and we were close pals. (Not heard from him for many years now)
I do remember a V2 falling on the school and a school boy being killed.
I have a school mag "The Somerset" ( ?) tucked away somewhere,
I was in Bruce
I'm fairly fit, but don't make long journeys these days.
Maybe my material is just a very small piece in a jig-saw
If you, or any other "old boy" would like to be in contact please email me I'd be very pleased to hear from them.
I live in the village of Tadley. That's in the north of Hampshire, between Reading, Basingstoke and Newbury.
Best wishes from Derek Heath
