This evening I have been speaking to one of my oldest friends whom I met at the school Alfred William Norton (Known to us as Alf but to his posher friends as Bill )- same dates Bruce I think. We both went on to be artists - Alf to Hornsey and me to a life in advertising.

My brother-in-law is Peter Solly -same dates I  think he was n Bruce. He also has been an artist all his life.

I could go on with the names of many fellow pupils in my intake.

One thing all the people I have mentioned have in common was the friendship of Harry Wright the art teacher. Usually to be found warming his bum on the radiator in the art room while throwing things at various slackers.

That's the way to teach art.
