A. Marmot (1951)
A. Marmot was a Junior Prefect. in the Summer 1951 edition of `The Somerset` magazine, a poem appeared, which poked fun at his reputation for being a bit of a stickler. It went:-
ODE TO MARMOT
I am a naughty
Prefect
And Marmot is
my name;
I sit inside
the Prefects loft
And greatly
shines my fame;
I take down all
the names I can
To
put boys into det,;
And
Juniors to play football
I
never, never let;
I taut I taw a
Junior
A-playing
with a ball;
I`ll
go and put him into det,;
If
he is not too tall,
As I was
walking around the yard,
Some boys
started to boo;
One of them had
a catapult,
So through the
door I flew;
I soon returned
to that same spot
With armies of
Prefects -
We
caught all the bad boys we could,
And
put them into det.;
I taut I taw a
Junior
A-playing
with a ball;
I`ll
go and put him into det,;
If
he is not too tall,
