Do you remember the time the upper school burnt
down and we spent a few months going to
Tottenham Sports Centre, just up the road from the Spurs ground?
We had a laugh? 'participating' in various sporting activities.
Then we got shipped out to that run down old
girls school St Angela's in Wood Green and
had to eat lunch in the local junior school.
Or the cross country jogs around the park in the middle of winter with the teachers all togged up and holding their hot coffee flasks and us freezing our balls off running around.
I remember trying to catch Woody (Paul Wood) during rugby, but he was a slippery little sucker and used to duck down underneath our high tackles because we were all to chicken shit to dive down at his legs.
Mr Morgan used to carry a huge bunch of keys, which he would throw at you if he caught you not paying attention in his class.
I had always looked forward to going back to the school as an old boy for a visit...and one day I was driving past the upper school, when I saw it had been half demolished, because Rialto Estates were developing the land for housing. I was shocked. I never imagined this would or could happen to such an old school. I must admit I was a bit upset about that.
A few years ago the lower school was an Adult Education Centre...but that's also been developed into a housing estate.
Do you remember going swimming in the Lido (open air swimming pool) on Lordship Lane, just a bit further along from the lower school?
Our 'gang' when we used to bunk off lessons and go over to the Broadwater Farm Estate flats and play 'Knock Down Ginger'. Ahh what fun we had as children! Bloody stupid when you look back on it.
