After the Herts we will be turning our focus to the new National development plan (NDP). This will be the plan that we have to work from for the next few years and it will certainly challenge us in terms of our agility work. This remains an area that we need to improve and develop and the new plan makes it impossible for gymnasts to progress unless their agilites are strong. Good conditioning flexibility will help and this cannot all be done in the training sessions, gymnasts must be prepared to condition at home. We have already started work on the new tumble plan and this will be competed at both the Regionals and Herts competitions - it is certainly an interesting development!! I feel lots of nagging coming on
Mondays and thursdays 5.30pm to 8.00pm at Wodson Park. Within the main club we strive to construct high quality routines, all of which are done by the gymnasts themselves. The aim is to provide excellent strength and flexibility training, this will allow us to reach challenging skills and higher grades. We not only want strong gymnasts but we want motivated and confident gymnasts who will aspire to reach their full potential. Ware gym club has been apart of the National finals every year since 2002 and we are continuously trying to keep this going for many years to come.
The main squad also have the opportunity to attend an hours class from 12.00pm to 1.00pm on Sundays. Within this hour they work on difficult strengthening techniques and flexibility stretching. The gymnasts also have the opportunity to try out or work on high level agilities with a coach.
The development squad is a class which allows children to move onto more challenging skills but still working on the basic skills that are required
Areas of acrobatic work at prep A level are also touched on to give the children an idea of what is expected. The development squad runs from 10.45am till 12.00pm at Wodson park.
A more challenging warm up with stretching is given which will help progress the children and help build up the strength and flexibility which is needed for higher level skills. The children do get the opportunity to put on a display and some may get to perform in competition.
